FAQs
Do I need to submit copies of my parents' passports?
You must provide an official document, such as your birth certificate or family register, to verify your relationship with your parents. If this document does not include citizenship information for you and your parents, you will need to submit additional documents, such as a passport copy or another government-issued document that indicates citizenship. Note that information about birthplace, ethnic group, or current residency on a birth certificate or other submitted documents will not be accepted as proof of citizenship.
My father passed away a long time ago, and I am unable to provide proof of his citizenship.
If you cannot provide your parent(s)' proof of citizenship due to their absence (e.g., divorced, deceased, etc.), please submit supplementary documents explaining the reason. Examples of such documents include a divorce certificate or a death certificate.
My parents and I have different citizenships. Am I still eligible to apply for the program?
Yes, you are eligible to apply as long as neither you nor your parent(s) hold Korean citizenship and you have citizenship in a country invited to the GKS degree program.
I am expected to graduate from my degree program in March 2024. Am I eligible to apply for this program?
Yes. Applicants expected to graduate by July 31, 2024, can apply for the program with a certificate of expected graduation. You must submit your official graduation certificate (or diploma) and final academic transcript to the GKS Center, NIIED, by July 31, 2024. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your acceptance.
I already have a master’s degree. Can I apply for a master’s program in a different field? Which degree certificate should I provide?
If you are applying for a master’s program, you should submit your bachelor’s degree certificate and academic transcript. Your bachelor’s degree CGPA must meet the grade requirements specified in the application guidelines. Submitting your master’s degree certificate and academic transcript is not mandatory in this case.
My academic transcript shows only the CGPA without semester/yearly GPAs. What should I include on the application form?
If your transcript does not detail GPA for each semester/year, you do not need to fill out those specific boxes. Instead, provide your CGPA and the percentile score for your entire degree program. If a percentile score is not provided on your transcript, consult the "GPA Conversion Table" in Appendix to convert your CGPA to a 100-point scale.
